Managing your Time


It’s very important to manage your time efficiently in order to avoid the feeling of overwhelm and stress.  However, many of us seem to be living our days haphazardly which only creates the very thing we are trying to avoid.

In order to avoid the feelings of overwhelm it is essential to manage our time.  Determining what is the most important task to be accomplished and doing that task first will help with the management of time.  Too often we have so many items on our list that we are spinning in circles without accomplishing one task.  Realizing ahead of time that there are only a set number of hours in a day, will help in determining what to do first and make each hour of the day more effective.

Some things that may help you in managing your time more effectively are the following:

  • Make a list – sounds simple enough, but you’d be surprised to hear that many that are overwhelmed never took the time to write a list of tasks or projects.  How can you use your time effectively if you are unsure what to do first?
  • Use a planner – an electronic planner may work well for you, but you may also consider a hand written planner to map our your days with tasks necessary.  When you write the tasks down, the process of writing will help to embed that memory, helping you remember the task at hand.
  • Relax – you will never get anything accomplished if you are stressed.  Taking the time to breathe and picture your day in your mind will help in relieving the stress that is usually accompanied by indecision.
  • Be patient – you may not be able to accomplish all the tasks you would like in one day, but with patience it can be accomplished.  In order to be able to manage your time effectively, you must be patient.

Your goal is to manage your time effectively without the needed stress.  Sacrificing too much time to accomplish one task will make it nearly impossible for you to focus on that task.  When you are focused, you will actually reduce the amount of time necessary to complete the required task.

When you learn how to manage your time effectively, you will not only accomplish more, but you will find yourself in a better position in your business, your life and have extra time to do with what you please.
